New details on Greenearth Energy project
In Australia, Greenearth Energy has offered the first details on its proposed Geelong Geothermal Power Project in Victoria, which the company hopes will improve their chances of getting government funding for the project. Greenearth’s demonstration plant will use a deep, hot sedimentary aquifer in the Geelong area that holds 180 degrees C water. The plan calls for drilling two wells, which are expected to cost $26 million. The company is looking for $20 million from the Victorian government’s Energy Technology Innovation Strategy program to get the project off the ground, and has applied for $7 million from the federal government, which has set aside $50 million for geothermal drilling projects.
