France pledges aid for Kenyan geothermal
In Kenya, France will give $97 million to Kenya’s Geothermal Development Company, which the company will use to purchase of 2 rigs and to add capacity. Kenyan prime minister Raila Odinga said on the French government has also agreed to increase funding for the Ol-Karia Geothermal Power project by $74million dollars as part of a pledge to help Kenya shift from reliance on fossil fuels to green energy. The pledge was made pending approval by the board of the French Agency for Development.
