10 new contract areas to be offered in the Philippines

In the Philippines, the Department of Energy will bid out 10 geothermal exploration areas in November under the next contracting round, with a proposal submission deadline of November 23. A total of 194,000 hectares are up for bid. The department said it expects winning bidders to “drill one to two exploratory wells at the end of exploration period.” Contract awards are expected between January 29 and February 12, 2010.
