Drilling grant awardee stays underground
In Colorado, despite getting a $9.2 million DOE grant for geothermal-energy drilling technology, newly-formed Foro Energy Inc. is hardly in the limelight. Foro is developing a new hybrid thermal-mechanical drilling technology that would make developing geothermal energy more cost-effective. Earlier attempts by GD to find the company turned up a web page with a single line description and a contact email address. The report linked here by the Denver Post report found the company’s Littleton, CO address to be an empty office in a suburban office park. The report quotes chief technology officer Mark Zediker as saying that this is intentional. “We are a startup, and we are in stealth mode.”
