Oil museum drilling its own wells – for the heat
In Pennsylvania, the Drake Well Museum in Titusville, which celebrates the birth of the modern oil industry, is drilling 30 wells of its own for their heating capability. The 400 ft wells are being drilled on the museum’s grounds. Edwin Drake is credited with drilling the first successful oil well in Titusville, which is about 85 miles north of Pittsburgh, in 1859. The geothermal wells are part an overall capitol improvement project that includes renovations and a new exhibit.
