Toronto hostel features ground source heating and cooling
In Canada, when the new Planet Traveler hostel opens in September, its primary heating and cooling will come from some 350 below ground. Anthony Aarts and entrepreneur, venture capitalist and author Tom Rand renovated the 150-year-old building into a 114-bed hostel that will reduce energy consumption by 75%. Rand is the author of Kick the Fossil Fuel Habit: 10 Clean Technologies to Save Our World and the lead Cleantech advisor at MaRS Discovery District, where he advises businesses on making practices as sustainable as profits.
